The project aims to reveal the cultural and educational value of calligraphy pursuing a personality intellectual development.

Calligraphy (from the Greek καλλιγραφία — "beautiful handwriting") — is the art of beautiful and clear writing.

In 2008 MVK International Exhibition Company initiated the culture and education project International Exhibition of Calligraphy. Its every stage becomes a significant milestone in the cultural life of Russia and the interest for the event exceeds the boldest expectations of its organizers. The exhibition was started on September 16, 2008 in St. Petersburg where the I International Exhibition of Calligraphy was successfully organized in the Russian Academy of Fine Arts. The show drew about seventy lead calligraphers from twenty-six countries. 

The same year there was established the National Union of Calligraphers and founded the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy. In 2009 the Museum was admitted to member society of ICOM (International Museum Council). The School of Classic and Applied Calligraphy will soon be opened at the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy.

The project context included: special exposition Mystery of the World Calligraphy (December 2008), Day of Japanese Calligraphy (March 2009), Festival of Japanese Culture Sakura (April 2009), Days of Slavonic Writing (May 2009), master classes with participation of calligraphers from across the world, relevant artistic and educational programmes.

The II International Exhibition of Calligraphy was organized from October 14 till November 14 in Moscow. The show was held under the aegis of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO and support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. The tree exhibition pavilions of total area over 5, 000 sq.m. demonstrated over five hundred calligraphy artworks created by 101 calligrapher from 34 countries. The exhibition context included an open contest on Orthodox Calligraphy and 72 master classes with the illustrious calligraphers from a quantity of countries participating. The meticulous attention of the public was attracted to the artworks of the sacral Calligraphy collection. The welcome messages and blessings to the project address were sent by the leaders of the three main religious confessions of Russia, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II, Nuncio Antonio Mennini, President of the Russian Association of Buddhists, the Karma Kagyu school Alexander Koibagarov.

Velikiy Novgorod was chosen the venue of the III International Exhibition of Calligraphy (September 10-12, 2010). It is the old Orthodox centre of Rus’, the treasurer of centuries-long writing traditions. The centerpiece of exposition is formed by the exhibits from the Sacral Calligraphy collection. It demonstrates the national and cultural diversity and spiritual unity of the contemporary civilization.
The short-range plans of the exhibition include: organization of the project presentation and exhibition in Paris and initiation of the international exhibitions for calligraphy in the largest capitals of the world.

In 2009 the exhibition was approved by UFI (the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry) for high professional level of the exhibition organization.

Calligraphy is a painting in letters. Calligraphy is a mystery of symbols and signs, it is reflexion of thought, image, character.

The project International Exhibition of Calligraphy is worth while demonstrating in the largest cities of the world. And while the original calligraphic artworks are on tour you can enjoy their highly artistic copies.

The two-volume edition contained in a refined case includes brief art profiles of calligraphers from thirty-three countries – from Japan to Australia and over five hundred high-quality copies of their calligraphic artworks. The works on sacral themes hold a specific place.
